Aleathea Dijon, A two-time author, a champion for the Lupus community who advocates making sure that resources such as mental health support and financial assistance are accessible to individuals experiencing their private battle with the disease. Aleathea is the founder of Fleurs De Dijon. A luxury everlasting rose boutique that was birthed out of Aleathea’s personal experience from her battle with the Lupus disease—having received flowers during her hospitalization for them to only disintegrate by the time she was discharged. Fleurs De Dijon is not your ordinary roses, these magical roses that are dipped in black girl magic last for one year. Aleathea Dijon, AKA The Energy Dealer, is an innovator and change agent in her own right. A true champion serving doses of unapologetic badass took some time out to kick it with the FEMI Magazine crew.
FEMI MAG: How are you able to find balance while being an entrepreneur?
A. Dijon: Setting goals is important. Having a schedule and time management helps, but I think I’m still finding the balance of it all.
FEMI MAG: What was the hardest part of starting your floral business?
A. Dijon: Believing in myself enough to do it, creating what was in my head into a tangible product.
FEMI MAG: What advice do you have for others who may be navigating a health journey while pursuing entrepreneurial work?
A. Dijon: Energy management is super big! I have my rest days, even when I feel a flare coming, I have to tell myself to take it easy with no option. We all have to learn what to give out energy to.
FEMI MAG: Who do you look to for inspiration?
A. Dijon: Women that look like me, that triumph despite tragedy or obstacles, that really keeps me flying! Also, those that are gone paved the way for freedom to be as creative as I can be.
FEMI MAG: How does the pandemic affect your business ventures?
A. Dijon: In a not-so-good way. My products themselves have been delayed a few times, but I still get the roses to my customers or my LOVEBUDS, as I call them in a timely manner. There’s also been an increase of others wanting to give their loved ones their flowers now where I can either deliver them or they can come and pick them up, so it has helped my business grow beautifully!
FEMI MAG: What is a future project you are excited about?
A. Dijon: I am excited for working with 5-star hotels and resorts to add more luxury and happiness to their guest’s stay and experience.
