A Greensboro, NC, native that is determined to have a record label that changes artists’ lives. Meet Jordan King, the CEO of We In Action Entertainment (W.I.A). His label pushes the envelope to breakout talent that is authentic and will change the dynamic of the music industry.
Growing up in a church-raised home with his grandmother, DerriQ was 3 years old when he first found his love for music when introduced to the drums at church and from there, his love for music grew. Now the goal is to work in tandem with established and upcoming artists while focusing on supporting independent artists who seek to make their dreams a reality. Speaking with Jordan, we got a breakdown as to how he started, where he is right now, and how the future looks.
How would you describe your journey from the beginning to now the CEO of a record label?
I would say my journey has been tough but reasonable. It’s still an ongoing learning process. I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights; I’ve signed artists, parted ways with artists; spent money for a concert that was guaranteed to sell out, but it flopped. I’ve been facing the same experiences as other record labels and managers. My journey is no different, but through it all, I managed to have successful shows, met a lot of dope creators, and produced several songs and music videos.
How did the idea of We In Action come about?
“We In Action” started as a phrase my homegirls, BeBe and Steph, and I used to say before we went out to party in Korea. It was a term of endearment. We left all of our bad moments in the past and focused on the blessings we had in life. So we really lived the “YOLO” lifestyle.
As a record label, it means we’re always working. We’re working by developing artists, promoting their music, and teaching them business structure. If you have a dream, you have to take action to achieve it. You can’t sit around and hope for them to come true. You have to go out and take proper steps to get to your goals. We In Action is a constant reminder that you have to work for what you want.
What do you think WIA offers the music industry?
North Carolina’s culture. The world knows about what Atlanta and Chicago have to offer because they set the tone for ideal rap culture in this current era. However, North Carolina has its own identity, and we express it through our art. North Carolina has so much hidden talent, and our mission is to promote that talent to the world.

In December, we will be hosting a community winter clothes drive for the less fortunate. Drop off location will be located in the front office Woodland Heights of Greensboro from Dec. 1st-17th. We will deliver all donations to Goodwill on Dec 18th.
