Ana Baby Speaks on Life in Music & Recent Single “Show Me Love”

With her talent, beauty, and charisma, Ana Baby is undisputedly one of the most promising and highly sought after artists. The Bronx native recently spoke to us in an interview about her recent single “Show Me Love” and life in music.

What is the message behind your recent single, “Show Me Love”?

It’s self explanatory “SHOWMELOVE ” through all the sacrifice I just wanted you to show me love and not the fake love but real love.

In what ways have you worked to stay relevant in an industry that is always changing?

By being myself , by staying connected with my family and my roots. I’m from the ghetto so I’ve learned how to be innovative and refresh the sauce when I have to.

What new music projects do you have coming up?

I’m dropping my 2nd mixtape “THEANAMALL” with some dope features from Yung Buck and new artist T-Rell produced by StackinUp Ent. & then following that I also have my first official EP dropping called “EVOLVED” , so the music is about to flood your way .

Have you been able to stay busy with your music during this pandemic with Covid 19? Have you been affected by it?

My cousin Jason Bourne from Basquiat Ent, passed 3/14/2020 during covid. He wasn’t sick from covid but the quarantine made it difficult to lay someone I love to rest properly.  Also close friends like Fred the Godson who did my second single in my earlier music career passed away due to covid, Jim Desalvo passed during covid, he mixed & mastered my new single with Chris brown GOTTAHAVEITALL. I was honestly scared to look at my phone for a while, so I pray our fallen angels Rest In Peace & I thank the essential workers everyday for being a soldier. I thought life was over, Covid was darker than I’ve been before because to top off the loss it was also the fear of the unknown the whole world didn’t know what to do. Fortunately, I’m from a place where if they feed you beans you make a soup. I made a choice a long time ago before covid ever happened, that when in the face of whatever’s opposing me, the very fear threatening me, I’m going to stand up to it and tell it I’m going to win & I’m still going to be here! My whole life my pain has been my blessing. my loss is really my gain. So I keep faith to get through hard times.

What advice do you have for female artists looking to get into the music industry?

Well first I would say, are you sure you’re ready to wear that S on your chest? Because that S stands for STRONG SUPER SMART STIMULATING STEADY you know and you got to be it all … I hate fake artist … are you doing this for real or because you want a thrill …social media has really watered down the process of the journey because people think everything is microwave fast and it’s not,  it’s got to be gourmet it has to simmer and it takes a lot of ingredients so are you really ready for it?!

What has this journey been like for you as a Female Artist?

It has its ups and downs….  with my first single it was super lit. There were celebrities to the left and right saying my name, shaking my hand and it went to my head, until I found out that successful people want to be around successful people, so if you not doing what they do, they don’t want you no more and if they have the rights over you it can be exhausting and not fun. The prettiest people do the ugliest things for clout or money, & I hope I can help break that barrier. Art shouldn’t be exploited, it should be promoted, so I can’t let the ugly break me. There’s beauty in creating and my journey has also been brilliant. I find out more about me everyday and I pour it into my craft I thank God I’m in a place where I can help others and that there are good people on my side like MEGATRON Muzikgroup who see my vision . A good percent of my journey thus far was about creating a good surrounding energetically and now I’m excited to release that into the universe.

What sets you apart?

I don’t think I’m your standard female artist. Society has embedded that women be submissive, conform or to settle down. But I show a woman’s strength and what we are great at and I hope my passion can liberate and equalize the playing field . But again in the words of the great Nipsey Hustle, this is not a race … so I mind my business in every sense of the phrase. I plan to be a boss not just a rapper. That already sets me apart. I was one if not the first FEMALE rapper to be called Baby and now everywhere I go a new rapper is called baby this baby that… I remember my video on WSHH had over 6 million views and my mixtape Evilqueen was out on all underground platforms in 2014 . I feel like I didn’t pave a way but I assisted the boost. My message was always you don’t have to wait to be great and then you see a boom of female rappers after the year 2015  … and with that said I’m good cause I always claimed who inspires me … that’s what music is for, like Michael Jackson who inspired everybody. Music is essential but it’s up to you to make it yours or make it different. I’m different cause I don’t need validation, I just need authorization and my check will thank me later baby.
