Family or Fiance is back with Season 2, and for those who have not been keeping up with the series, it focuses on engaged couples who come together for three days under one roof with their families. The goal is to fix any problems in the relationship and gain the blessings for marriage from their families. The host and relationship expert Tracy McMillan does an amazing job at helping these couples see their strengths and areas of their relationship that may need work. Tracy McMillan is a television writer, relationship expert and author, whose credits include Mad Men, Good Girls Revolt, Marvel’s Runaways, and United States of Tara. She’s the author of three books – a memoir, I Love You and I’m Leaving You Anyway; a novel, Multiple Listings; and a relationship book, Why You’re Not Married… Yet. The latter is based on the viral blog Why You’re Not Married, which for more than two years was the most-viewed article in the history of the Huffington Post. Tracy’s made numerous television appearances, including Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday, NBC’s dating show Ready For Love, The Today Show, Access Hollywood Live, Katie and more. Her TedX talk The Person You Really Need to Marry has more than 9.7 million views. We recently had the pleasure of attending the press conference for the series and were truly excited to discover what is in store for Season 2 which will premiere on July 17 at 9 p.m. Special Thanks to OWN for lunch supplied via Doordash!
What we love about this show is the honesty that Tracy gives to the couples. We were reminded that couples have to be willing to own their truth and not look to blame the other person for the problems they face within. She spoke about the importance of healing and we know that you can’t start a relationship or marriage if you have not healed from past trauma. During the discussion she shared about her experiences of growing up in Foster Care and having to overcome the fears of rejection and how they affected her past relationships. This is why she said its important to know these things about yourself so you can heal from them prior to a relationship or marriage. Surprisingly the space shared during this press conference with Tracy felt like a space of healing for so many as the questions came forth, about the expectations of the new season and personal questions. She was phenomenal and it is this amazing energy from her that helps these couples transform in many cases for the better! She admitted that not all of the couples make it through the process and some cancel their engagement right after the show. When asked did she have any favorite couples on the new season, she shared that she is not fond of picking out favorites but admits that some are pretty fun and nice to meet. Get ready for Season 2 and you may want to watch the series with your partner and discover your own ways to heal in your relationship before saying, “I DO”!
