The Woman in the Window is an American psychological thriller directed by Joe Wright with Actress Amy Adams playing Anna Fox, the mother of Olivia Fox, played by Mariah Bozeman. First, a little backstory about the movie, Amy Adams is a child psychologist who has agoraphobia. There is no need to ask Siri what agoraphobia means because I already looked it up for you. So, agoraphobia is defined as the fear of being in situations where there is no escape or asking for help is unavailable, fitting for this psychological thriller based on the previews. So, without giving too much. Anna lives in her brownstone in New York and has found herself captivated by a seemingly perfect family across the street. From Anna’s POV, she befriends the wife and later believes that she has witnessed a brutal crime, or did she? If you are a psychological thriller movie lover like me, this is the movie to sit at home and Netflix and Chill, literally because it is streaming on Netflix May 14, 2021! I also want to get into the other actors, such as Mariah Bozeman, a 13-year-old actress, model, fitness instructor, black cheer ambassador, and BLM advocate. Mariah has appeared in commercials, print ads, and co-starred in NBC’s “Chicago Med.” Mariah also played in a short drama called Lost and Found in 2018. Mariah is taking acting by storm and has no plans of stopping, so you know FEMI Magazine had to interview this all-around star and get her perspective on her first film.
Congratulations on your film debut in the upcoming movie “The Woman in the Window!” You have played in several diverse roles; what made you add psychological thriller to your acting career?
I love to take on any audition that I receive, but it is also exciting because it is a thriller, and I have never been in a thriller before. This also allows me to explore my range of emotions and gives me the ability to switch like that. I think it was an excellent opportunity to take overall because of the people and the experience.
What was it like being on set with your co-stars? What were some of the best moments for you?
Being on set with my co-stars Amy Adams and Anthony Mackie, who plays Ed Fox, was a dream. It was an amazing experience; they are amazing actors and people. Overall, my favorite part of being on set would be meeting my co-stars as people and learning about their lives. I also met Amy Adams daughter, and she was so amazing. I learned a lot about them and learned how to build my craft as an actress. Overall, the experience was amazing, but they made it even better.
Talk a little about your acting career. What made you want to pursue this art, and what do you hope to accomplish through your acting?
I have been acting for five years now, starting around the age of 8. When I first started, I was not signed, but I did a Girls Scout commercial, and it made me realize that I loved being in front of the camera, and it was such a great experience for me. Then I started to look into other things and realized that I wanted to take acting on as a career. So, I talked to my mom, and she agreed. Then I signed with an agency, and my agent helped me book other commercials, web series, TV, and modeling leading to print ads. Overall, I love modeling and acting, so my goal is to get into bigger things. A regular series and bigger movies would be amazing. Overall, I want to get better as an actress and make this a long-term career, and have as much fun as I can.
Lastly, what is a small detail that you can give about your character (Olivia) and her role in The Woman in the Window?
I do not want to give away too much about the movie because it has many ups and downs throughout the film. However, I would say my character is outgoing and passionate, a little bit shy, but she is a ball of energy when she opens up. She loves her life, and even when things can get hard, she perseveres through it.
After concluding the interview with Mariah, it was clear that she should also add a motivational speaker to her resume. Mariah gave insight into her acting experience so far as something that can get hard, but understanding that when things do not go right does not make you less of an actor and actress, and if this is something you want, then go for it and have fun! I am not sure about you all, but I am excited to catch The Woman in The Window on Netflix and support this incredible actress and film. So, for all of my psychological thriller lovers, come back, and let’s talk about your thoughts about the movie! See you soon!
