A Little Dash of Luxe goes a Long way

Set the scene…… You come from a long work week to a nice bubble bath and sweet smells of goodness of Tahiti or Santorini. Sounds like an immediate vacation, right? And during these times we could all use an escape away onto an island just for a day or two. But for now, we can just soak and breathe in heavenly scents from A Dash of Luxe.

Crystal McEachin is bringing the luxury right into your home with her line of luxury soy candles. “I didn’t want to just create a brand. I wanted to create a community for women who love luxury and who are homebodies. I want people to be taken away when they light my candles and products.” she says. Not only do these candles illuminate the room; they also have a clean burn. They will not leave toxins in the air. The aroma from the line lingers for hours leaving your home smelling like an exotic getaway. The Brooklyn Native also has room sprays and variety of  luxury elements of aromatherapy on her online store www.adashofluxe.com

1.How did you get started on your entrepreneurship journey?

I always loved the arts, DIY projects, event planning and fashion design. I would make all sorts of home goods and party favors that friends or family would want to purchase. They would always encourage me to start a business. Once I focused in on the art of making candles, I decided to take it seriously and build A Dash of Luxe.

2.What are some obstacles and victories that you have experienced while be an entrepreneur?

Starting anything from scratch always has its bumps in the road, but they make the wins feel even better. I am basically a one woman team when it comes to creating, shipping, and advertising my product. That process alone can be very taxing. Getting the candle formulas perfect, dealing with shipping delays, even funding the business have all been hardships. With perseverance, trial and error, I always make it over the hill and come out on the other side with more experience and better information. Despite doing it all on my own, I managed to increase my sales to over double what I started, and collaborated with other amazing business owners and pop up shops such as WBLS Circle of Sisters event in 2019.

3.How are you approaching business post 2020 mentally?

2020 was really the year of the grind and tapping into what makes you happy. I learned how resourceful I could be with the value of collaborating with other entrepreneurs and tapping into my health and wellness. I am going into the New Year with even more confidence, patience and love with myself. Also, an even bigger sense of purpose since I was able to still share my vision and succeed despite such tumultuous times.
