SHARE WITH US THE TURNING POINT IN YOUR LIFE WHERE YOU KNEW YOU HAD TO MAKE A CHANGE AND DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
The turning point in my life was when my grandmother past. I felt lost and was just so confused about life at the time, but it also motivated me because I understood what life was about then it was about time.
HOW DID THE PASSING OF YOUR GRANDMOTHER, SISTER, AND BEST FRIEND HAVE AN IMPACT ON YOU AND HOW DO YOU HONOR THEIR MEMORY NOW?
To be honest it just taught me about time. I feel like I was cheated out of time from them. When you use to people being alive it’s hard understanding they’re gone. I honor them with all of me because I know they are around keeping me protected even when I’m doing wrong.
WHAT LED YOU TO COMEDY AND HOW’D YOU COME UP WITH YOUR STAGE NAME, THROWED OFF JUAN?
I’ve always been with the jokes my whole life. I gained a lot of popularity throughout my school years because I was so funny. Even when my life would be hard, for instance like going to jail or loosing love ones, I was always able to entertain people through jokes. And I got my name because I used to always overreact in situations when I was young, and people would always tell me I was Throwed off (crazy) and my real name is Dijuan, so I got rid of the Di and added Throwedofff.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE COMEDIAN AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT THEM THAT YOU ADMIRE OR LOOK UP TO?
Martin Lawrence: he did it all and it seems so natural. He set the tone from the stage, to tv shows, to movies.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR COMEDIC STYLE?
I’m raw and natural so whatever I find funny it’s going to come out in a real form.
WITH SOCIAL MEDIA BEING A MAJOR PLATFORM FOR BIG NAMES LIKE DESI BANKS AND DC YOUNGFLY TO NAME A FEW, HOW DO YOU CREATE A LANE FOR YOURSELF THAT SEPARATES YOU FROM THE REST?
I’m just me honestly, I live a life relatable to a lot of people, so my material entertains them.
WHERE DOES THE INSPIRATION COME FROM FOR MOST OF YOUR SKITS?
The things I’ve seen and done in my life.
ATLANTA IS THE HOME OF SO MANY BIG NAMES ACROSS THE BOARD IN ENTERTAINMENT. WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE ATL THAT BREEDS SUCH STAR POWER, IN YOUR OPINION?
We born great. The real Atlanta knows how to hustle and make it happen.
WHAT WORDS OF ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG BLACK MEN WHO MAY COME FROM A SIMILAR BACKGROUND AS YOURS AND WANT TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR THEMSELVES?
Find god and go hard is what I would tell them. Make sure when you do something you understand the universe is very powerful and karma is real. Respect your elders and understand criticism helps you.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?
I see myself bigger than big. I will have tv shows, movies, and sold-out dates. I will be a CEO to a management company and just living life, having fun
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? ANY UPCOMING SHOWS OR PROJECTS?
Right now, I’m focused on rebranding and cleaning up my image, as well as attending acting school. I’m also working on a comedy special for my birthday this year, and putting together a mixtape, “Live at The Greenbox” which is dropping next month in March.
