The Connect We All Need; Shade & Sass!

Shade & Sass is a black owned, creative agency ran by two young female creators; Shania and Cierra. Highlighting black news, entertainment, and culture, Shade & Sass welcomes small businesses, creatives, musicians, authors, photographers, models, MUA’s and more!

Shania is a public relations guru and aspiring reality TV star. She’s played in a variety of television roles, including HBOMax’s “Legendary, MTV, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga”. Shania also studied Broadcast Journalism at William Paterson University and worked for big media companies with a role in PR and entertainment. Shania’s top campaigns include “Pattern” by Traces Ellis Ross and “Florence” by Mills. Partnered with Cierra; a singer, songwriter, content creator, and talent manager who studied Public Relations and Music Management at William Paterson University, Cierra brings diversity. She grew up singing in school choirs and talent shows. As well as doing freelance modeling and acting, Cierra has been seen on a billboard at Art Basel 2019 for “Dirty Politics” which played a role in a MTV show. She’s also hosted concerts throughout the city of Philadelphia and recently featured in her first released song, “What’s Da Vision?” with a Shade & Sass artist, Close Cash.

Shade & Sass launched January 2020 within the start of the national pandemic, Covid-19. “We had a few hiccups throughout the pandemic”! Shade & Sass continued, “When we first launched in January of 2020, we were not expecting to have to change our entire agency dynamic. It has been more challenging finding new clients because the entertainment industry took a huge set back”. Continued, “Mid-pandemic we decided to expand and offer our services outside of the entertainment field, to include any small businesses or brands; regardless of industry. We hope to grow shade and sass to ultimately become a media house with different sectors including lifestyle, beauty and holistic brands”.

In the midst of the pandemic, Shania was able to work outside of their agency and put into practice social and talent campaigns for nonprofit organizations. Shania added, “Working with nonprofits can be difficult, plus adding in the current economic crisis. After seeing the final results in the end and all my hard work paying off, it will always be a huge milestone and accomplishment in my book”.

Shade and Sass prides themselves in ensuring their clients are satisfied with every service that’s offered. “We focus not only on project development, but building their overall brands. Our clients will personally gain accountability, patience and overall media training while we implement and take over their marketing and public relation campaigns”, added Shade & Sass.

Two pieces of advice that we would give to creatives like ourselves is to be patient and to never underestimate the power of maintaining relationships. As a start up, your connections and the relationships you have prior can determine everything and ultimately contribute to a lot of your growth”. –Shade & Sass.
