Upcoming Comedian: Myron Jewell

During these uncertain times, we all need a laugh and a little bit of inspiration. This upcoming actor and comedian will surely give us laughs and a different perspective. The Milwaukee native, Myron Jewell, had a conversation with us about reflection and forthcoming projects.

What was the moment that influenced you to become an actor/ comedian?

It was honestly in 2015, I was working a 9-5. I realized that people like Kountry Wayne and others were blowing up on social media. At the time, I didn’t have the money to travel from city to city and do shows on stage. I figured that I would make online videos and blow up that way. I always knew that I wanted to be funny since middle school. I think that it was Steve Harvey that said, “People are paying us $20.00 per hour, to sit on million-dollar dreams”. I believe that it will happen for you if you don’t give up.

Describe your creative process for films, jokes, etc.

For me, like before a show or on a movie set, I am learning lines. Before a comedic performance, I would not say I like to talk to anyone. I want to be by myself and gather my thoughts. I like to play one of my favorite songs, “Regulators” by Warren G or “Juicy” by Biggie Smalls. If I want to get the hype, I will listen to “We Ready” by Archie. That brings me into the mode. I shit before every show, lol. I get nervous sometimes, and I guess that helps to clear me out.

Any upcoming projects coming Myron Jewell’s way?

We are shooting First Day Out 2 currently, my comedy tour, “I Got the Receipts,” and a comedy tour is on the way. I had to do that. I know if people start talking about Foe Foe, they will ask about “Where The Receipts,” you know that is how I started, so I had to keep that. I also want to make my stand-up tour; I haven’t thought of a name for it yet.

Any advice for any upcoming comedians/actors?

The best advice that I could give people is to keep doing you, don’t worry about failing. I think that failing is what helps us with success. You know, many times, when you have people around you, they will try to get you to stop because you know your vision is not their vision. You have to zone people out, get in your bag, your own space. That almost happened to me a couple of times, you know, people telling me not to do this, but I kept doing what I wanted. Consistency is everything. Sometimes you have to cut off the people closest to you so that you focus. There were people that I went to school with and grew up with that I had to cut off; the good thing is that they didn’t take it personally. You know, once they see you taking it seriously, they will take you seriously and show you more support. Stay motivated, stay focused, and make some sacrifices.

What life lessons have you learned thus far in your growing career?

To stay focused and keep doing you. If you work hard, you will receive rewards. Keep your circle small and remain in your bag, and don’t worry about everything.

Name five comedians or stars that have influenced or molded you as a comedic influence today.

Chris Tucker is my favorite, and he inspires me. DC YoungFly and Kountry Wayne I watched them a lot, and they helped me get in the zone when it comes to the social media aspect of it all. Chris Tucker and Martin, I would say for the acting portion. I would say Will Smith as well. I also like Kevin Hart’s work ethic. He makes you feel like, “I can never sit down.”

From the looks of it this young man, has so much planned and is very motivated. We are definitely looking forward to seeing the progress in his career. One thing is for sure, this young man has a tremendous amount of passion for the art of comedy. Being relatable and making people laugh is a superb gift.
