Bridgerton’s: Race, Love Affairs, Romance and Excitement!

Yes, I binged watched it!

Bridgertons pitch sounds like this, when Gossip Girl abruptly meets Dickinson and maybe, The Spanish Princess.

It’s unlimited as an excellent sell for Women of Color who love and treasure the time and always admired the creation and writing skills of Shonda Rhimes.

We’ve entered into this amazing era of romance, and Miss Rhimes major deal to being such an original to the collection of Shondaland presented by Netflix. The Trailer alone will get you hooked, and yes, I didn’t want to wait for the debut date but, I did because the first episode was a twister.

Especially regarding the legendary hairstyle of Queen Charlotte.

The very first admiral look at Bridgertons choice to cast black actors and actresses as characters who were originally written as white in the book was possibly what first caught our attention to the series.

The main character and eye candy for all of us is Regé-Jean Page, who plays Simon, the Duke of Hastings who is white in the actual book of “Bridgeton” by Julia Quinn.

As we know, 19th century period dramas are overwhelmingly and, unfortunately, all white. Thankfully Netflix and its hit series, was greatly needed, and the change of the characters when it came to diversity was successful and refreshing.

Regé-Jean Page once said in the quote, “There’s a difference between showing brown skin onscreen and representing brown people on screen.”

Indeed, in accumulation to being entertained, we are also self-proclaimed Shonda stans who adores romance, especially Regé-Jean Page’s likes. But we also love reliable stories about Black women and Black love stories that are much needed.

Let’s see what season two has in store for us.
