Reginald Davis Lets us Know He’s a Man of Many Talents

You may remember him as being featured on the Shade Room for his announcement for running for mayor of Prichard, Alabama. Turns out Davis is a man of many talents. He is a veteran, small black business owner, holds two degrees and certified with the Federal Contract Management Essential & Federal Contract Management Specialization. What some people may not know is musician is also a part of that list. After running in the election, Davis has been focusing on music. He released Critically Acclaimed in late November. He also plans to release Harder than Hard on Christmas Day.

Davis has actually been in the music business for several years, formally signed to Shake 20 Productions. Davis has always been into music. After the military he started managing artists. Unfortunately, Davis ran into some financial hardships that left him without any artist, studio, or engineer. So instead of throwing in the towel Davis became a self-taught engineer and started cranking out the music again.

FEMI magazine was able to ask the up-and-coming musician some questions on his journey and his music.

How do you use your music to educate the black community?

I talked about my life story and experiences in music. I use my music to entertain but most of all my music has a spiritual message, educational, and a bit of ratchetness. It’s basically my outlet.

What marketing tools & platforms have you found to be the most beneficial for independent artist today?

The music industry is all digital so it’s all different. YouTube, Facebook & IG is my biggest platform as far as social media. However, my music is on all platforms.

How would you describe your sound?

I have an old school sound a lot of people say I sound like Jay-Z. I kind of have an East Coast but down south Charisma with my music.

What sets you apart from other artist in this industry today?

My age and experience in life sets me apart in today’s music industry. The industry is full of youngsters. I am 42 and still enjoy hip hop so I think the older generation will appreciate my music more than the youngsters.

Davis has already been known to make some waves and catch our attention. We cannot wait to see what he has coming out next with his music.
