Gospel Singer James Cutts Releases Single “I Believe” Ft. Grammy Nominated Artist Zacardi Cortez

Gospel artist, minister, and mental health advocate James Cutts knows firsthand how life’s most difficult seasons can challenge a person’s mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. After experiencing the untimely loss of two family members and facing his own battle with prostate cancer, Cutts stepped away from music for several years. Now, he is returning with renewed purpose and a powerful message of faith through his latest single, “I Believe,” featuring Grammy-nominated gospel artist Zacardi Cortez.

Blending Cutts’ soul-stirring vocals with Cortez’s dynamic delivery and thunderous instrumentation, “I Believe” is a compelling reminder of the power of faith, the promise of salvation, and the importance of trusting God even when life presents its greatest challenges.

“I wrote this song with a different twist. It is designed to encourage the Christian body of faith,” Cutts shared. “We give a lot, and people don’t always see the labor we put in. ‘I Believe’ speaks about salvation and helping others to have belief that God will do exactly what He said He was going to do.”

For Cutts, music has been a lifelong calling. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he began singing in the choir at Metropolitan Churches of Christ, Inc. at just four years old. His musical journey continued alongside his siblings as the lead singer of their family quartet, Wings of Faith, a group with which he performed for three decades.

Growing up surrounded by musical talent and influential artists, Cutts developed an appreciation for the rich traditions of gospel, soul, and R&B. His connection to music extended beyond the church, reflecting the cultural influences of legendary artists such as Al Green, Marvin Sapp, and the R&B group DeBarge.

Cutts also explored his athletic abilities as a boxer during his teenage years, training and working with Floyd Mayweather Sr., father of boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Their relationship eventually extended into music, resulting in the 2017 recording “Jesus Will Fix It,” which became a favorite on SiriusXM Radio.

Throughout his career, Cutts has continued to build a legacy rooted in gospel music and family. In 2023, he and his family appeared on Dr. Bobby Jones Presents on The Impact Network. More recently, they received a Legend Award during the 2026 Stellar Awards weekend, recognizing their contributions and enduring presence in gospel music. Cutts also took the stage at the 2026 SOAR Awards, further demonstrating his continued commitment to sharing his gift with audiences.

With “I Believe,” Cutts brings together his foundation in traditional gospel and his ability to connect through contemporary praise and worship. The result is a song designed not only to uplift listeners but also to encourage those navigating seasons of uncertainty, grief, illness, and hardship.

As he steps into this next chapter, Cutts is determined to extend his reach beyond familiar audiences, using his music to remind people that faith can remain a source of strength even when circumstances seem overwhelming.

“The sound and feel of this song will help many people,” he explained. “I think it will be a hook to bring people to Christ and for them to see that all things are possible. Those who have their backs against the wall, those who have cancer or diabetes, those who are on life support. They will see that they have a connection to salvation. Regardless of what we see in earthly things, what God has done in heaven will be done on earth. We just have to believe.”

For Cutts, this return represents more than a new musical release. It is an opportunity to transform personal adversity into a message of hope, encouraging listeners to hold firmly to their faith and trust in God’s promises. Through “I Believe,” he invites audiences to embrace the possibilities that faith can inspire and to remember that even after life’s most challenging seasons, a new chapter can begin.
