Most of us don’t like talking about death. It’s uncomfortable, so we put it off. We focus on building careers, buying homes, raising our children, and planning for retirement. But very few of us take the time to plan for what happens after we’re gone.
Unfortunately, that lack of planning leaves many families dealing with confusion, financial stress, and sometimes disagreements during one of the hardest times of their lives.
For Tameka Nichole Jackson, CEO of TNS Document Services, that’s exactly what she’s working to change.
“It’s heartbreaking to see families trying to figure everything out while they’re grieving,” Jackson says. “Those are conversations that should happen long before someone passes away.”
Her passion for estate planning comes from personal experience.
“When my grandparents passed away, we didn’t have arguments over who was getting what or how we were going to pay for their funeral. My family had done well in the sandblasting and heavy machinery painting business, so we had resources. But I know that’s not the reality for many families.”
According to national estimates, more than half of American adults don’t have a Will or Trust. That means countless families are left to navigate probate court and difficult financial decisions without a plan.
Jackson believes it doesn’t have to be that way.
“We’ve almost made it normal to start a GoFundMe when someone dies,” she says. “While a family is trying to process their loss, they’re also trying to figure out how to pay for a funeral. That shouldn’t be the way it is.”
Through TNS Document Services, Jackson helps families prepare Living Trusts, Wills, Medical Powers of Attorney, Durable Powers of Attorney, HIPAA Authorizations, and other important documents that can make an incredibly difficult time a little easier.
To her, estate planning isn’t about preparing for death.
“It’s about taking care of the people you love after you’re gone,” she says. “It’s one of the greatest gifts you can leave your family.”
Her commitment to helping families doesn’t stop there. Jackson is currently studying for her Life, Accident, and Health Insurance license because she believes estate planning and life insurance go hand in hand.
“My goal is to become a one-stop resource,” she explains. “When families have both an estate plan and life insurance, they’re not left wondering where the money will come from. They can focus on grieving and supporting one another instead of worrying about finances.”
While estate planning has become her greatest passion, Jackson is also known as The Home of the $599 Divorce, helping people who need an affordable way to move forward without paying thousands in attorney fees. TNS Document Services also offers Mobile Notary and Apostille Services, making important legal documents more accessible and convenient for individuals and businesses alike.
For Jackson, none of this is just about paperwork.
“It’s about helping people through some of the biggest moments of their lives,” she says. “Whether someone is planning their legacy, ending a marriage, or preparing important documents, I want them to know they don’t have to do it alone.”
Her hope is simple: to encourage more families to have the conversations they often avoid until it’s too late.
Because at the end of the day, the greatest thing you can leave your loved ones isn’t just an inheritance.
It’s peace of mind.
