Honoring Your Ancestors

In today’s world where things are feeling like a spiritual warfare; many are now looking to their ancestors for help and guidance. Ancestors are our deceased family members we honor throughout our lifetime. There’s many different ways to honor your ancestors, here’s a few.

Creating an ancestor alter is one of the most popular ways to honor your ancestors.

You can do this by placing their pictures, personal possessions, or favorite foods and drinks on a secluded table. Away from the public. Also, light a white candle for illumination.

Wearing old clothing and jewelry that was given to you or passed down from the deceased is also a form of honor.

This keeps them close by and in mind, as well as bringing them up in conversations. It isn’t meant to be a sad moment when we reminisce. It’s meant to bring life and joy into the atmosphere by reminding ourselves and the people around us about how much life and happiness they brought when they were alive.

When talking to your ancestors

Be sincere especially if this is an ancestor who was around most of your life or raised you, they’ll know if you’re being genuine or not. Also, when choosing an ancestor to work with don’t skip the ones you were close to you when they were alive over a great great grand parent you’ve never met. This could be a form of disrespect.

These are just a few easy ways to honor the ones who came before us. If you have any questions or want to give us feedback, be sure to leave us a comment below!
