NEW YORK — Hip-hop and soul artist Rian Wyld, whose diss track “Comments” sparked national headlines with its critique of Timbaland, will release her latest single, Next Move, on all major streaming platforms tonight at midnight.
Produced by Sha the Goddess, Next Move was first offered through the artist-to-fan platform EVEN. The track continues Wyld’s conversation on music industry ethics while responding to recent comments by longtime music executive Damizza. “As I say in my next single, ‘Next Move,’ bum boys hate to see a woman be a boss,” Wyld said.
Wyld broke through with Comments, described by Allhiphop as “a blistering diss.” The viral song challenged Timbaland’s embrace of AI-generated music and raised concerns about the use of work from lesser-known artists without credit.
Her growing profile has been bolstered by more than a million social media impressions and coverage from outlets including Allhiphop, Urban Magazine, SYL Media, FEMI Magazine, VPR Radio, and WRBB Radio in Boston.
Wyld has also spoken openly about her personal journey, including the loss of her brother Ryan to gun violence, which shaped her voice in hip-hop. In a feature with Allhiphop, she promised “Hip-Hop with a lot of soul” — a direction she continues with Next Move.
