NaChé Thompson Is Rewriting the Beauty Rules

NaChé Thompson, founder of NaChé Cosmetics, is not simply creating makeup. She is creating a declaration that women of color belong at the center of beauty. Her brand was born from two forces that shaped her life—frustration and love. Frustration because for years she could not find products that celebrated her complexion without compromise. Love because she has always believed that Black women and women with rich, deep skin tones deserve to see themselves reflected in beauty without apology. Growing up in Southern California, she witnessed how both the beauty industry and music culture often pushed her community to the margins. That experience became her fire. NaChé Cosmetics is not just another beauty brand, it is proof that visibility and quality are not negotiable.

Breaking into the industry was not easy. NaChé had to walk into rooms where people doubted her vision. Investors questioned the market for products made with Black women in mind, suppliers underestimated the demand, and even beauty professionals did not always understand the buying power of women of color. Instead of shrinking back, she educated them. She showed the numbers, the influence, and the loyalty of the community she serves. When access to capital became a barrier, she turned to creativity. She leaned on grants, family, friends, pre-orders, and collaborations. Along the way, she realized that building community was just as important as building products. For her, customers are not just buying lipstick or gloss. They are buying into a mission they believe in.

That mission is rooted in inclusivity and performance. From the start, NaChé knew inclusivity was not a trend to chase but the foundation of her line. She demanded formulas that worked as beautifully on the deepest skin tones as they did on the lightest. That meant investing in pigment-rich shades, testing across a wide range of complexions, and never cutting corners. She knows the sting of applying a product only to feel invisible. NaChé Cosmetics refuses to sell that experience. Instead, it is a celebration of boldness, vibrancy, and authenticity.
