Bailey’s passion for innovation led her to launch Shay B. Beautiful LLC in 2019, a consultancy dedicated to elevating brands and individuals in the beauty industry. In 2023, she introduced the My Beauty Kit Mobile app, transforming how consumers and professionals engage with beauty by combining convenience, education, and personalization. Through The Beautyprint, a resource hub for beauty professionals, Bailey provides mentorship, training, and tools for growth. She also founded The Be Beautiful Project, inspiring young girls to develop healthy self-care practices and embrace their natural beauty.
FEMI: As the official beauty consultant for the Detroit Pistons Dance Team, what does this extended partnership mean to you, and how do you approach preparing performers for high-profile appearances?
Shay: I have an opportunity to merge my love of beauty, dance, and sports. It is still pretty surreal to see myself behind the scenes supporting such an expansive professional operation. These dancers are athletes, artists, and ambassadors all in one, and their appearance plays a key role in how they connect with the crowd. I approach preparation by focusing on performance and stage presence. Their looks have to not only photograph flawlessly under arena lights but also withstand the intensity of their choreography. Beyond application, I educate them on skincare, product selection, and techniques that keep them looking and feeling confident from the first fan interaction to the final buzzer.
