Taraji P. Henson is continuing to bring awareness to mental health. The working title of her upcoming show is Peace of Mind with Taraji. The platform announced on Monday that the show has been greenlighted and production will start later this year.
Henson will have a co-host as well. Tracee Jade Jenkins, Henson’s longtime best friend and Executive Director of Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation. The show will focus on different mental health issues especially ones effecting the black community. Special guests will include celebrities, experts and everyday people.
“I’ve long been a mental health advocate for the Black community and created the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018 that has provided resources to thousands of people who are struggling,” Henson said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to bringing this new talk series to Facebook Watch, where I can continue to create conversation around an issue that is near and dear to my heart.”
The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2018 by Taraji P. Henson and led by Executive Director, Tracie Jade Jenkins. The foundation is named in honor of Ms. Henson’s father. Boris Lawrence Henson, who suffered with mental health challenges as a result of his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. The Foundation is committed to changing the perception of mental illness in the African-American community by encouraging those who suffer with this debilitating illness to get the help they need.
With World Mental Health day approaching on October 10th, we need to continue to push the conversations on mental health.
