Dr. Asaph: A Transformative Journey in Music and Spirit with “Greatist to the Least

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Christopher Starr to discuss his latest project and his evolution into Dr. Asaph, a shift that reflects not only a new artistic direction but also a deeper spiritual journey.

What inspired your decision to transition from Dr. Christopher Starr to Dr. Asaph, and how does this new name reflect your artistic growth and spiritual transformation?

Adopting the name Dr. Asaph is a profound change for me, both personally and professionally. It marks a point where my spiritual beliefs and creative work come together in a more harmonious way. This name reflects my commitment to creating music that goes beyond entertainment—it’s about uplifting and nourishing the soul.

“Greatist to the Least” focuses on themes like humility, reflection, and healing. How do these ideas come through in the album’s tracks, and what do you hope listeners take away from it?

These themes are woven throughout the album, offering listeners an invitation to look inward and reflect on their own journey of healing and personal growth. My hope is that listeners find strength and empathy through this music, and come away feeling more connected to their own resilience.

Can you talk about some of the musical genres or artists that influenced the sound of “Greatist to the Least”? How did they shape your creative process?

“Greatist to the Least” draws inspiration from a wide range of artists like Prince and Stevie Wonder. Their ability to break through genre limitations has been a huge influence on my work. I wanted to create something that blends both classical and modern sounds, making the album accessible yet deeply meaningful for a diverse audience.

You’ve worked with many legendary artists. In your opinion, what is the unique power of music to inspire and connect with people, especially with the themes in this album?

Music has this incredible ability to transcend barriers—cultural, personal, emotional—and connect with people on a deep level. The themes in this album, like healing and humility, tap into that power, aiming to create a shared experience where listeners can feel seen, understood, and inspired.

As you begin this new chapter with “Greatist to the Least,” what are your hopes for the future, both as a producer and as a mentor in the music industry?

Moving forward, I want to keep pushing boundaries in music production, but I also see myself dedicating more time to mentorship. There’s so much talent out there, and I’m passionate about helping emerging artists find their voice and succeed in a way that’s authentic to them.

How do you see your role in guiding and mentoring other artists?

For me, mentoring is about encouraging artists to stay true to who they are. It’s not just about the technical side of music; it’s about helping them understand the value of their work and creating something that’s meaningful. I want to inspire them to make music that speaks to the heart.
