Arrington Foster, an actor on the rise, hails from Clinton, Maryland, where his journey in the performing arts began at a young age. Immersed in theater throughout his childhood, Arrington developed a deep love for storytelling and performance. His passion for the stage continued to flourish during his college years, where he appeared in iconic productions like The Wiz, Annie, Footloose, A Chorus Line, and Oklahoma.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Arrington shared, “I had a great childhood in Clinton. I was blessed to grow up in a two-parent loving household who always supported my dreams. At 11, my music teacher suggested I try theater, and that’s when I got bit by the acting bug.” His involvement in theater extended beyond performances, as he fondly recalls the friendships and rehearsal process as some of the most memorable parts of his journey.
His passion for acting only intensified during his time at Texas Christian University, where he pursued a minor in Communication Studies. “Having communication studies as a minor helped me not only feel comfortable talking in front of crowds but also dealing with different types of people,” he says.
In 2015, Arrington made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams in film and television. “It was pretty clear that to make it in the industry, you had to be in LA or NYC,” Arrington explains. “I love warm weather and the beach, so it was a no-brainer to move to Cali. It was a culture shock, and not easy at first, but I stuck with it and eventually found my way.”
His persistence began paying off as he built an impressive portfolio that included appearances in commercials, short films, and web series. Arrington credits these early roles as pivotal in shaping his career, including his first national Wells Fargo commercial and crime reenactments on the ID Channel. “It all helped me hone my craft,” he says.
The breakthrough moment came in 2018 when he landed the role of Rio Duncan in BET’s Carl Weber’s The Family Business. Despite not having an agent or manager at the time, Arrington’s determination led him to a fateful networking event, where he met the show’s director, Trey Haley. “I believe it was God, myself, and being in the right place at the right time,” he reflects. His role as Rio has earned him acclaim, including the Best Supporting Cast Member Award at the 2023 Stomp the City Iconic Awards.
Arrington’s career continues to thrive as he gears up for his role as Kyle Harris in the upcoming Lifetime holiday film, A Very Merry Beauty Salon, starring alongside Tia Mowry.
For aspiring actors hoping to follow in his footsteps, Arrington offers sage advice: “Make sure you know this is what you really want to do. This business is tough, with a lot of rejection, but if you stick with it and trust the timing, you can make it. Surround yourself with good people, stay motivated through prayer, meditation, fitness, and journaling, and most importantly, have fun.”
