Lauren Settles always had a magnetic pull toward the world of entertainment. From the very beginning, she was drawn to the arts, with a natural flair for singing, acting, and even writing. Her first experience in the spotlight came when she took on the ambitious task of writing, directing, and starring in her own mini-play, “Baby Jesus,” which was performed at her local church. The overwhelming support and positive response she received from her community cemented her passion for performing and storytelling, setting her on a path that would eventually lead her to a thriving career in media and entertainment.
As Lauren’s journey progressed, she didn’t limit herself to just one aspect of the arts. She ventured into modeling, participating in local fashion shows, and further developed her acting skills by taking classes at prestigious institutions like the Freedom Theatre and The Philly Improv Theater. However, her path took a slight detour when she decided to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice, prioritizing her education while never fully letting go of her artistic dreams. It wasn’t until she discovered Philadelphia Community Access Media (PhillyCAM) that Lauren’s passion was reignited. There, she delved deep into the world of media production, embracing every opportunity to learn and grow. This experience, combined with meeting Celebrity Stylist Charles Gregory, Executive Producer of “We Talk Weekly,” marked a pivotal moment in her career, steering her back toward her true calling in TV, radio, and production.
Throughout her career, one of the most fulfilling aspects for Lauren has been her involvement with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Being part of NABJ has connected her with a network of dedicated and influential Black journalists, providing her with the support and mentorship needed to thrive in the industry. For Lauren, NABJ is not just a professional organization—it’s a powerful community that continues to inspire and empower her as she advances in her career.
