City of Inglewood Honors Dr. Marlo Nicole Richardson for Outstanding Contributions to Business and Community Empowerment

Dr. Marlo Nicole Richardson was recently celebrated by Mayor James T. Butts and the City of Inglewood for her exceptional contributions to business and community empowerment. A proud Inglewood native, Dr. Richardson has leveraged her local roots to become a leading businesswoman and entrepreneur. The city’s proclamation highlighted her significant achievements and unwavering dedication to serving the community and empowering the next generation.

Growing up in Inglewood instilled in Dr. Richardson a deep commitment to preparing the youth for a prosperous future. As a Black businesswoman and serial entrepreneur, she has achieved remarkable milestones, including receiving the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and earning two doctoral degrees, one in Business and Entrepreneurship. Her relentless pursuit of excellence and dedication to making a positive impact has defined her journey.

Dr. Richardson began her career in law enforcement, rising to the rank of police lieutenant. Simultaneously, she entered the real estate market at the age of 21, becoming the first Black woman appointed to chair the CA State Licensing Board by California Governor Jerry Brown. Her diverse career path showcases her versatility and leadership.

Her entrepreneurial ventures have included successful lounges and entertainment venues like Berris and Stage 21. More recently, she has launched new projects such as “California Vintage Wine Bistro,” “Braymar Wines,” and a partnership with Big League Hospitality Group at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. In the business world, Dr. Richardson has driven diversity and innovation through brands like Greenwood & Company and Just Mary Brand & Delivery. Her contributions to media production with Marlo Nicole Productions have been substantial, offering top-quality services for podcasts, small scene productions, and executive producing television and film projects.

Dr. Richardson’s commitment to education and youth empowerment is evident through her initiatives, Business Bullish, and her nonprofit, Generational Wealth Builders Worldwide. These programs aim to inspire, train, and provide practical experiences for future entrepreneurs, ensuring a legacy of success for generations to come.
