1010 Wine and Events, the first and only wine bar in Inglewood, CA, announced their revamped menu available starting March 20th. The new menu features delicacies from the land and sea such as salmon crudo and oysters on the half shell light bites, as well as main dishes of Piri Piri chicken and Prime Beef bavette. The menu is rounded out with a variety of fresh, roasted, and caramelized vegetables like molasses brown butter carrots, brussel sprouts with cucumber yogurt, and braised chard.

First opened in 2021,1010 Wine and Events is the first and only wine bar in Inglewood serving the largest selection of Black and brown-owned wine in the state of California. Founded by sibling sommeliers and Inglewood natives Le and Leslie Jones, 1010 Wine and Events caters to wine enthusiasts and foodies across Los Angeles and beyond with a deep desire to offer the local community an upscale dining experience.

Chef Mo Marvel, a Le Cordon Bleu Pasadena graduate and previously Executive Sous Chef at Superfine Playa and Sous Chef of Rossoblu (DTLA), artfully recreated the new menu to highlight the distinct variations of wine available to diners.

As you can see the bright and bold flavors of these dishes make you want to come through the computer screen to taste a bite! We recently had the pleasure of speaking with the owners of 1010 Wine and Events, about this exciting new menu.

What sparked the interest for revamping the menu?

When we opened 1010 Wine almost three years ago, we were new to the restaurant industry. After being in this industry for some time now, we wanted to create a more cohesive menu with dishes that better paired with the wines we currently serve.

We love that you support black and brown-owned wine companies. Have you noticed if there is a rare occurrence of support for it in the restaurant business?

I do think it’s rare to have a menu with so many selections from black-owned wine companies but I don’t think other establishments are purposely not supporting these brands. We have been very intentional about the brands we choose to carry. The taste and the quality of the wine is important but equally as important to us is who makes the wine. It has been difficult to source wines from black-owned brands but it is a commit we have made and we love introducing our customers to wines and brands they may have not heard of before.

What makes the new menu exciting and please share with us about the wine pairing suggestions for these beautiful new flavors?

The new menu is Afro-Latin cuisine and was curated by Chef Mo Marvel.

This new menu really speaks to the favors we like to eat. As I mentioned earlier, we really wanted the new dishes to highlight the wines we carry since we are a wine bar after all. My favorite pairings are the Grilled Prawns with Intercept Chardonnay, the Roasted Beets with La Fête du Blanc and the Peri Peri Chicken with Indigené Pinot Noir Rose.

Food is an essential part of every culture. Traditional recipes, cooking techniques, and dining etiquette can reflect the values and beliefs of different communities. What traditions can be seen in the food presented that represent the culture of the individuals who work so hard to prepare these amazing dishes?

The new menu encourages family-style dining which was very important to us. We got into wine because we loved that it brings people together. Our new menu really allows our guests to dine with their family and friends and continue to build community through food and wine.
