CJ Nevels is a native of Holly Springs, MS! He is a multi-talented entrepreneur and actor, with three years of experience on stage, who is striving to make his mark in the film industry.
In October of last year, Cj organized an Art Mixer entitled “Dreams Do Come True.” The event featured a diverse range of art forms, including skits performed by actors, spoken word poetry, and a brief runway display of fashion. The evening also included live performances by a saxophonist and a comedian.
Cj’s primary objective in hosting the event was to inspire those who had lost focus or become discouraged to start dreaming once more. He believes that by remaining dedicated and persistent while keeping God at the forefront, anyone can achieve their desired goals.
As of lately Cj has written, produced, and directed his own mini web series titled “Under Pressure.” Which episodes drop every few weeks. Under Pressure takes you on a journey of success and failure while focusing on mental health (self-worth, defeat, rejection), life choices, decisions, consequences, and different aspects of relationships in men and women such as forgiveness, betrayal, and loyalty. CJ is a versatile actor who has played several main characters in all of the productions he has been a part of. This winter season, he has teamed up with the talented director, Pastor Terrell Monger, to bring the fascinating stage play “Influence” to life. The play is a thought-provoking drama that explores the delicate balance between power and influence, and how they can be used to shape the world around us.
So far, CJ and Pastor Monger have performed “Influence” in five shows, each one captivating audiences with their riveting performances. The last few showings were held at the Hologram Theater and Fairly High School on Friday, February 9th. The performances were received with great enthusiasm and appreciation by the audience, who were left spellbound by the potent combination of acting and directing.
Cj’s upcoming stage plays are “The Blind Man by Basial” on February 16-18 at 629 Monroe Ave in Memphis, TN, and “Dare to Dream” written by Renii Charleston on March 17th at 4 pm at Scheidt Family Performing Art.
