Houston, Texas<\/strong>– R&B\/ Soul Singer\u00a0Leela\u00a0James<\/a>\u00a0gets gangsta! Who said pretty faces and soul singers can\u2019t\u00a0\u201cSet it Off\u201d?\u00a0 Well, Syleena Johnson<\/a>, Avery Sunshine<\/a>, and legendary LA rapper Medusa<\/a> teamed up with\u00a0Leela\u00a0James\u00a0to shoot the creative video for\u00a0Leela\u2019s new single,\u00a0\u201cThought U Knew\u201d\u00a0which pays homage to the legendary film,\u00a0\u201cSet it Off\u201d.<\/a>\u00a0 In the 4-minute visual,\u00a0Leela\u00a0reinvents the role of Stony which was originally played by Jada Pinkett Smith<\/a>. She embodied the role by also cutting off her infamous long hair and embracing a new short haircut. The 4 ladies had a blast filming this video as they each have shared a bond and friendship for over a decade.\u00a0\u201cThought U Knew\u201d\u00a0is the follow-up to the current Billboard Top 15 single,\u00a0“Right Back In It”\u00a0from\u00a0Leela\u2019s highly anticipated new album which is also titled\u00a0\u201cThought U Knew\u201d.\u00a0 The project will be released on all platforms on October 27th.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultra soulful, funky single\u00a0is written by\u00a0Leela\u00a0and frequent\u00a0collaborator Francesca Richard and produced by Rex Rideout. The video was filmed in Houston by Dang Films.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
