With most women tapping into their “soft girl” mode this year we are embracing glamor and beauty. Beauty. What a word. The statement, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. We hear it and see it a lot. Timika Gaten, owner of GlamRUs is giving the word “beauty” a new meaning. Yes, boss babes, education is beauty. Bring your own boss and call your own shots, well that’s top-tier beauty. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down and having an intimate discussion with beauty mogul Timika Gaten and there was no stone left unturned. From her captivating external beauty to her willingness to serve the community; it’s no secret how she’s captivated the hearts of so many. Here’s what we want to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI Magazine (Mo Clark): First and foremost, let’s talk about what made you get into the beauty business industry and how long you have personally been in the field.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika: <\/strong>Since I was about ten years old, becoming a hairstylist and salon owner was always a dream of mine. I actually started doing hair in the 8th grade and have been doing hair professionally since 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI: Now that you’re embarking on such an amazing business venture, what made you decide to take this step? Timing is everything, as well as location, so why now and why Atlanta?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika:<\/strong> As a business owner in the industry, I watched the industry shift. Most beauty professionals want to work in their own private space and be their own business rather than renting salon booths. With Atlanta being one of the biggest cities in the hair industry, I decided it would be a great place to relocate. Due to my having to relocate my business location after almost 15 years, I decided it was the perfect time to open salon suites in Marietta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI: With so many people popping up in the same industry, tell us, what makes GlamRUs Salon Suites?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika: <\/strong>GlamRUs Salon Suites is a spacious luxury facility with top-of-the-line equipment and glamorous decor. GlamRUs will be offering all things Glam Hair, Nails, Eyelashes, Makeup, and Esthetician services. We also will carry premium virgin hair bundles, lace front units, clips in, and lace closures. GlamRUs aims to provide a premium experience to all of its clients and suite holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI: I totally believe that when you look better, you feel better, and you do better; you’re clearly a boss, babe. What are some tips and tricks you can share for self-care?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika:<\/strong> Self-Care is essential for me to maintain my physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I like to take my off days to relax and pamper myself. I advise everybody to take a day or two just for them to recharge and regroup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI: GlamRUs Salon Suites is coming soon; super excited about that. What more can we expect from Timika?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika:<\/strong> We are excited to open our doors to the Marietta, Cobb area. We welcome all beauty professionals and customers to our GlamRUs Salon Suites. Once we\u2019re up and running, we plan on adding a second location with the goal of franchising!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMI: Before we let you go, what advice would you give your 16-year-old self?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timika:<\/strong> I would tell my 16yrs old self to believe in yourself. Embrace your uniqueness and be relentless in pursuing your goals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
