Princess Mapp is a young Actress and Break-out Star that\u2019s taking the entertainment industry by storm! She has shared the screen with Serena Williams in two commercials as well as Tatyana Ali, Jasmine Guy, and Kim Fields, to name a few.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Princess is the lead on the Emmy Award-winning show, Ghost Writer on Apple TV Plus which recently premiered on Oct. 21 st.\u00a0We had a chance to catch up with the young star and see how things had been going!<\/p>\n\n\n

So tell us, when did you begin acting? How did you get started in this industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been acting for about eight years now. I started off with acting classes. I remember I used to be very fidgety and couldn\u2019t hold eye contact when I first started acting classes. It helped me in many ways and led me to where I am today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What actress\/actor inspired you to start acting?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Growing up, I’ve always loved Viola Davis. My mom told me about her once and after doing research I’ve always been inspired to be as successful as her. She went to Juilliard and that\u2019s my dream college. One day I hope I’ll be able to work with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us about your character, Nia on the Apple TV show, Ghost Writer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nia is my polar opposite. I\u2019m more of a talkative person and can make conversation with anybody. Nia is more to herself and in her own world. She believes she can do everything on her own and during this season, she finds out she has to learn to be on a team. She becomes a real team player, which I can relate to in real life. A lot of times, it seems like we can do things by ourselves, but we soon learn in some cases, that\u2019s not true.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is Nia\u2019s storyline in the series similar to what\u2019s happening in the real world surrounding race?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nia\u2019s experience with racism is a highlight of what\u2019s happening around our world. There are stories every day about black kids and adults experiencing racism. I\u2019ve also experienced racism growing up. I remember in elementary school, kids would make fun of my skin, facial features, and my hair. One kid even told me to go back to where I came from. It definitely was hard, especially hearing that at a younger age. I\u2019ve learned I won\u2019t let that experience define who I am or who I want to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you want the younger generation to get out of or learn from your role and the series?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope to remind kids or whoever is going through or has gone through the same situation as me or Nia that they are not alone. I encourage all the kids and adults who\u2019ve been in that situation to let it make them become stronger instead of weaker.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the holiday season. How do you balance spending time with loved ones and being an actress?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the holidays, I love to spend as much time with my family as possible, but if I have to audition or work, I try to do it as soon as possible, so I can enjoy the holiday. I hope everyone out there has a Happy Thanksgiving & Christmas!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
