FEMI Mag<\/strong>: I had the opportunity to check out your Live Performance of \u201cMoving Too Fast\u201d, the lyrics are so raw and real. When listening to the song, I felt like you were telling your audience a story. When writing your songs are your lyrics based on your personal experiences?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>My music comes from a very real, genuine, and intimate space. It all comes from personal experiences, mine or from those around me. It always comes from really living it and that\u2019s how I\u2019m able to tell a story<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag:<\/strong> I was immediately drawn to the uniqueness of your sound. What or who inspires you as an artist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>Life inspires me. Music is where I go to let go of everything and deal with life. Some of my artistic idols are Lauryn Hill, Stephen Marley, and Shakira. I grew up in a Hispanic household; I grew up listening to a lot of Spanish music, but Lauryn Hill is my overall idol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag:<\/strong> How would you describe your sound?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose<\/strong>: I \u201cSRAP\u201d – sing and rap. That\u2019s a word I made up to describe it. I do soulful, Spanish, and rap music – a raw New York sound. I feel like I have so many different styles and I love all types of music that I’m so versatile I can really make any kind of song. Honestly, you\u2019d be surprised to know the types of music I listen to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag:<\/strong> The symbolization of the \u201cRose\u201d represents love, beauty, and passion. Is there a significance of the rose to your brand?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>People call me \u2018Mama Rose\u2019. I feel like roses represent us as a people. We have multiple layers, and we have thorns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag: <\/strong>Is there anything that you would like the FEMI readers to know about you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>I try to create music that I don’t see being created and that doesn’t exist right now. I feel like right now this generation has kind of swayed away from lyricism, emotion, and feelings when it comes to music. I want to start getting back to the real, raw nitty-gritty of the art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag: <\/strong>Congratulations on becoming a new mom and welcome to motherhood! What role has motherhood played in your journey as an artist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>Being a female artist is tough as it is. Now women are finally being respected in this industry. Though, being pregnant made a lot of people think that was going to be the end of my career. I don’t know why that is the stigma in today’s world. Motherhood has motivated me to go harder for what I want. Because now I’m not just doing it for me, I\u2019m doing it for my legacy, for my family, for my children\u2019s children. Motherhood makes any woman become a beast! Many of the successful women out here are motivated through motherhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n FEMI Mag: <\/strong>Do you have any advice for any new moms that are seeking to find the balance of motherhood and their artistic or creative endeavors?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose: <\/strong>My biggest advice would be to take it one day at a time. As moms, we get easily consumed in being a mom and we don’t make time for our own needs. It’s very important to make time for yourself because it goes into taking care of your babies as best as you can. Just take it one day at a time, breathe and make the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n About Tianis Rose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tianis Rose\u2019s musical journey came early as an instrumentalist, as she learned to play the violin, flute, drums, and piano at an early age. As time progressed, Rose began to experiment with freestyling, leading her to a career in the music industry.
