\u201cWe just partnered with Bernie Mac\u2019s estate to cover Bernie Mac\u2019s story,\u201d Jackson said, adding that the project was \u201csomething that John doesn\u2019t know about yet.\u201d According to Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Jackson said he is \u201cvery excited about\u201d the partnership and that it \u201cjust happened today.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about the opportunities to tell a story that you feel are important,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLook at you breaking news over here,\u201d Legend reacted to the announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hollywood Reporter writes that no further details about the film were revealed, but it will mark a full-circle moment for Legend as he appeared in Soul Men, one of Mac\u2019s final films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Soul Men reunion you all wanted to see,\u201d Legend said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film aired in 2008 after Mac\u2019s death. Legend played Marcus Hooks and was joined by castmates Sharon Leal, Sean Hayes, Affion Crockett, Adam Herschman and more. Mac played Floyd Henderson and starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson\u2019s Louis Hinds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legend recalled his time filming Soul Men and remembered Mac cracking jokes on set. \u201cHe truly just got joy from lighting people\u2019s faces up with laughter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bigger Love singer also reflected on \u201cThe Bernie Mac Show,\u201d which ran from 2001 to 2006 and earned Mac two Emmy Award nominations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was beautifully done,\u201d he said. \u201cHis humor was always edgy but it always had so much heart to it at the same time. You could tell he was a family man. You could tell that he loved the people he was talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mac passed away in 2008 after suffering a heart attack and complications from pneumonia. He was memorialized at the House of Hope Church the following week by fellow comedians and actors Chris Rock, Don Cheadle, D. L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey and more.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
