Mo Clark aka Ms. Atl Doll<\/em> is a media personality, writer, host, model, actress, and entrepreneur. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mo started in the entertainment industry as a party and event promoter. She has hosted several celebrity interviews and events in the city of Atlanta. In 2014, her makeup line “MYKA J” was released and now includes lashes and a collection of lipsticks. But it wasn\u2019t until 2016 when Mo received an opportunity to join a local internet radio show. She also became a published model with FB Studios<\/em> of Atlanta with the release of her 2017 calendar \u201cMs. Atl Doll\u201d<\/em>. And in 2019, Mo stepped out on faith and parted ways with the radio show to pursue other media and journalism opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mo has written for Kontrol Magazine and other blogging sites including her own. She has also created her own internet radio show \u2013 DaPostU<\/em>p. A media platform that allows people from all parts of the entertainment industry to share their stories. DaPostUp <\/em>covers onsite interviews, radio and television interviews, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mo tells FEMI magazine how she got started in the entertainment industry, what she enjoys about being a creative, and her vision for her life in the next five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspired you to start writing?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo be honest, I’ve been writing since I was very young. It was the only way to get my point across. It’s just my natural gift, I guess! It’s a passion and writing comes very naturally.\u201d

How did you get into hosting events?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, that’s a funny, but short story. When I first got into one of those Facebook groups, I was always<\/p>\n\n\n\n

posting selfies. It wasn’t because I was stuck on myself, it was because I’d just started my lipstick line and I thought the purpose of those groups was for networking. I quickly found out that the groups I was actually in, weren’t groups targeted towards “networking\u201d, so I started getting added to more and more groups, then people wanted me to come to parties, and post my pics on flyers, so I was like “why not”, and it\u2019s kind of just took off from there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you enjoy about being a creative the most?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI like going against the grain. Being different, thinking outside the box. I was color-blocking outfits before it became a thing. It wasn’t because I was really trying to be a trendsetter. Lol, I’m actually color blind (which is something that doesn’t happen to females often). So, I would say I enjoy being different the most!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us more about the Da Post Up.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI started DaPostUp because I was always working on other people\u2019s brands, following their rules and I didn’t want to do that anymore. I started booking myself for media coverage through Eventbrite and going from there. I was doing interviews in a hotel lobby with my cellphone and a pair of wireless mics from Amazon, scheduling 3\/4 guests per weekend. I would do my hair and makeup because, to me, that hotel lobby was a set, and I was Oprah. Eventually, I wanted a more secluded location, so I ended up at Power 108.9, which was a great platform, but I ventured on towards other options.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are some of the pros and cons that you have faced in the entertainment industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhew! Well, I think something that’s a pro and a con within itself is the fact that “not everybody is going to like you”. The industry can be very “clique” like at times, so you may get ignored or passed up because you’re not running with the in-crowd. I think the best pro I’ve come across so far is the industry allows you to make your own lane and the sky is truly limitless. I enjoy being able to tie everything I do together. No matter if I’m on set acting, or on my show, or covering an event, the majority of the makeup products I wear are from my makeup line, Myka J. So that’s a pro, I can cross brand because I’m in my own lane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do you see yourself five years from now?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, I’ve turned DaPostUp into DaPostUp Ent, LLC as of January 2021. I’m doing my show under that umbrella, learning graphic designs, video editing, and so much more. I have clients that I’m doing PR work with now as well. So, I say five years from now if I move correctly and keep doing me, I’ll have a successful multimedia company that I can pass down to my daughters to run. That’s the most important piece for me, leaving a legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
