Being able to empower his children to have a voice, was a blessing for the filmmaker.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H.E.N.R.I. comes on the heels of\u00a0Singh\u2019s\u00a02020 award-winning documentary, \u201cMemento,\u201d a South African Artventure. Like for many of his fellow filmmakers, 2021 brings a heightened awareness of our changing times and the urgency to empower the voices of all persons of color to take ownership of their stories.\u00a0Singh\u00a0takes the responsibility of this journey, seriously. 100% of the cast was BIPOC and more than 80% of the crew was BIPOC or Women, including DGC director Katarzyna Kochany and producer\/actor Andrea Grant (Get Rich or Die Tryin\u2019, The Listener).\u00a0\u00a0The entire VFX crew is BIPOC, including VFX artists Adrian Bobb, Colin Walcott, Cait Salmon, as well as Akash Singh and his team at Akash Productions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea for\u00a0H.E.N.R.I.\u00a0was formed from\u00a0Singh\u2019s\u00a0observation of his children\u2019s reactions and relationship with Google Home and Alexa. The short film follows 7-year-old Simon after the tragic loss of his father.
