Dr. Letisha Jefferson<\/a><\/strong> is redefining what it means to care for children. A board-certified pediatrician with over a decade of clinical experience, she\u2019s not only trusted in exam rooms but also in the pages of picture books and classrooms alike. As an award-winning children\u2019s author and wellness advocate, Dr. Jefferson merges medical expertise with a nurturing, relatable voice that speaks to both children and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her debut book, Zoe\u2019s Day with Dr. J, was born from a desire to make pediatric visits less intimidating for young patients. \u201cMy inspiration came from years of seeing children walk into my office with fear and anxiety,\u201d she says. \u201cAs a new mother myself, I began reading countless children\u2019s books and realized how powerful storytelling could be in shaping a child\u2019s mindset.\u201d Zoe\u2019s Day with Dr. J introduces children to the checkup experience through the eyes of a bright, curious young girl, transforming a routine visit into an opportunity for empowerment, learning, and courage.<\/p>\n\n\n

More than just a story, the book acts as a resource for parents and a bridge between the healthcare world and early literacy. With its vibrant illustrations and conversational tone, it walks kids through common doctor\u2019s office moments\u2014like height checks and vaccines\u2014while encouraging them to ask questions and name their feelings. \u201cIt\u2019s both a literary and emotional toolkit,\u201d Dr. Jefferson explains, \u201cbecause helping a child feel seen and prepared can change how they show up in all areas of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her advocacy doesn\u2019t stop at the page. Dr. Jefferson serves on the board of the Early Learning Coalition of Duval and the nonprofit ScienceSiS, and is an active volunteer with Read USA and Reach Out and Read. Through these organizations, she champions health equity, literacy access, and science education for underserved children. Her company, Learn and Play with Dr. J, continues this mission by creating hands-on, educational resources that connect health, play, and learning in meaningful ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite wearing many hats\u2014doctor, author, mother, entrepreneur\u2014Dr. Jefferson is grounded by the belief that balance is not only possible but essential. \u201cAs a physician, entrepreneur, and mom, balance is essential to my well-being,\u201d she shares. \u201cI maintain it by setting boundaries, prioritizing what matters most, and giving myself grace. Some days are about business goals, others are about movie nights or unplugged time with my family\u2014and both are equally important.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What resonates most about Dr. Jefferson\u2019s journey is her authenticity. She is candid about the challenges of juggling multiple roles while continuing to grow and evolve. \u201cMy story reflects real moments of struggle, perseverance, and purpose,\u201d she says. \u201cI continue to work on balancing a demanding medical career, motherhood, being a supportive wife, and the creative journey of publishing a book. I hope my path inspires others to pursue their calling and goals\u2014even if they\u2019ve \u2018made it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
