Just when you thought that getting your education and surviving a possible death sentence isn\u2019t stressful enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many students like myself going back to school is very different this year. This will be the same this semester and many semesters to come. With the changes to our education, the new normal reminds us that there\u2019s certainly no right way to start a semester. Either, you are on a college campus taking classes in your bedroom or figuring out your next plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an international student and first-time university student, I had a vision of being on campus. This included joining a sorority, and exploring my academic options. The universe had other plans, just like thousands of students may had the same vision. Some may have the feeling of defeat and anxiety on its all-time high. I know like many other dedicated students our schedules have changed. Our day typically includes an in-person class, but now, it\u2019s completed by zoom call in hybrid classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of being a part of study groups or even making connections with new people, the game and concepts of college has changed. Its now important in keeping our distance from new friends and even classmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a new university student and international student, I do feel antsy about starting school even if it\u2019s in the comfort of my bedroom during these trying times of this pandemic. I guess it\u2019s normal to feel this way. Its new game for me, and during an epidemic, it\u2019s beyond filled with anxiety and stresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to the facts of my precondition, plans of staying safe has been the same agenda for me and many others for the last 3-5 months. \u00a0Like many, going to school virtually especially if you suffer from social anxiety, this is your dream. For others, it\u2019s an adjustment for example graduating at home, which will be our new normal and for many it won\u2019t be new for long.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The safety of students doesn\u2019t rely only on them but the community also has a responsibility and even common decency. \u00a0The college experience has come with new experiences and policies, to keep their residents and faculty healthy. Especially for virtual classes. Also being around buildings, and they are often full at capacity, giving out health surveys and temperature interpretations; regularly will now be a must<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the example of Harvard and their institution, it has made an announcement that campus should and always have a restriction when it comes to the safeguard community and health of their students and faculty. Especially the regard of the international students. By this proceeding, this would bring their undergraduates back to campus this fall … which is now for many of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this point, there\u2019s no space for mistakes. Precaution is a must, especially for the safety and health benefits of the students and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The question remains: what can higher learning students have to expect when it comes to campus living or even being on campus this fall and more semester to come most importantly?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
