Jazmine Sullivan’s Heaux Tales and Relatable Stories, Growth, and Emotions

She’s back like she never took a hiatus.

The Philadelphia Songstress held absolutely nothing back on the new project, Heaux Tales. Tracks such as, On it, are already a mega-fan favorite. Sullivan and Lennox express their emotions about men, in no concealed term, on what they want to do to them. Lennox also appears in the interlude labeled, Ari’s Tale, where Lennox admits she almost sabotaged her career due to her former partner’s physical gift.

The EP also depicts desires, uncertainties, disloyalty, remorse, empowerment, and love pairing with real-life stories and chronicles of great artists such as H.E.R., Anderson. Paak, and Ari Lennox

On it, the song in question is a track that can be considered taunting, provoking, and even inviting. Apportion of Sullivan EP Heaux Tales, a sense of liberation on the latest release can be heard. Painting a picture that men can definitely be toyed with, bought, and sometimes sent away. But just as they proclaim to do the same with women and more than they’re willing to admit, Pick Up Your Feelings. Emotionally drilled her former love interest with the same piercing blow of unforgiveness, Sullivan also tried to overcome the soulful notion on the track Lost One.

Heaux Tales collectively showcases stories of women of all walks of life and their experiences. The album has the vocal ability and gift to back up the stories and characters. Many can relate despite age and preference. Many can agree, mostly young and in love. This project represents the millennials and other generations before and after who have experienced such matters regarding being in love and finally loving yourself.

Heaux Tales exhibits the importance of freedom. As an audience and observer, Sullivan isn’t here to announce herself as the essence of perfection; she sees her flaws, just like many women and young girls do. In a world where women are unfortunately surveilled for their freedom, sexual freedom, and activity, they are looked down upon by the very individuals they experience sexually in a private setting. Heaux Tales does showcase a massive light on the standards of our biased society.

Her stories are held by similar and relatable accounts from other women, an enclosure that crunches any claims of Sullivan’s part. For example, while Ari’s Tale performs to be another instance of the Shea Butter Baby singer’s unconventional methods, she accomplishes her story by reiterating a line that helps as the album’s groundwork. “This is my truth.” That’s all Heaux Tales is for Sullivan, her certainty, her story, and a genuine justification of how she and women all over the globe feel in a society administrated by men.

The music is sophisticated, and the project’s creation is perfect. Just one week into 2021, Ms. Jazmine Sullivan adorned us with an irrefutable moment on every track and emotion we can all relate to.
